Select Environmental granted new licence
On the 10th January 2003, Select Environmental Services Limited was granted a Waste Management Licence at its Reading premises permitting both Clinical and Pharmaceutical Wastes to be stored and transferred. This will allow the company’s operations to be enhanced through logistical improvements and provides a platform for continued growth and development.
Polkacrest adds further capacity
Polkacrest Ltd has recently installed a third Autoclave into its London plant at London Waste Ltd, consequently increasing its total treatment capacity to 16,500 tonnes per annum. The investment further enhances Polkacrest's treatment capability and provides long-term support to their expanding collection activities.
Eurocare Environmental Services Ltd plead guilty to 10 offences.
Non-member Eurocare Environmental Services Ltd admitted a total of 10 separate charges relating to their plants at Wrexham, Newcastle-upon-Tyne and Birmingham including conducting an illegal clinical waste transfer operation and deposit of waste on land without a licence. Evidence was brought in court of blood leaking from trailers used to store and transport clinical waste, and polluting a tributary of the River Dee in north Wales with blood and urine from its incinerator at Wrexham. Torgam Developments Ltd fined for illegal storage of clinical waste
On 30th September 2002 Torgam Developments Ltd pleaded guilty at Rotherham Magistrates Court to two charges under Section 33 of the Environmental Protection Act 1990 for the illegal deposit and storage of clinical waste at an unlicenced transfer station. The company was fined £15,000 at Sheffield Crown Court for each offence and ordered to pay £7179.66 costs.
