SMDSA doubles Membership in 12 months
Since publication of Issue 3, the number of members joining the The Sanitary Medical Disposal Services Association has doubled. In part this has been due to the SMDSA’s active stance over the Governments’ U-turn on rigid containers which resulted in a flood of calls from non-members wanting advice and information, but increasingly, recognition by each of the various government departments that SMDSA had ‘come of age’ and now carried the voice of the industry, representing 98% of the UK’s clinical waste incineration capacity, over 200 clinical and hygiene waste transfer stations, and a majority of container manufacturers and distributors. Most recently, SMDSA has also welcomed Enviros into its ranks, a first member from the Environmental Consultancy sector, and particularly active in the field of draft legislation and guidance on clinical waste.
Whilst we have had to say goodbye to Jade and Hyasan through acquisition, Johnsons Washroom Services have taken over Hyasan’s membership. As Johnsons’ Managing Director, Shaun Mason, told SMDSA’s Secretary "Initially we had intended to cancel Hyasan’s membership, but since receiving more information about the Association’s activities and membership we have changed our views substantially, and now wish to understand how we can play an active role in the Association". Johnsons Washroom Services Ltd are well known in the industry for the management of
washroom and hygiene services, a comprehensive and coordinated range of products and a discrete and professional service.
We wish a warm welcome to all of our new members
